Visit St Malo
St Malo is a picturesque port which is located on Brittany’s Emerald Coast where you’ll find some wonderful beaches and coastline.
Founded in the 6th century, St Malo has always had a strong connection with the sea but it became a wealthy and prosperous port from the 13th Century due to the French Corsairs. These privateers or pirates would use the port whilst they raided enemy ships on the orders of the King of France.
Within the city you’ll find a wonderful selection of medieval streets and buildings which house some great shops, restaurants and cafes. Whilst outside the city’s walls ensure you visit Fort National which was constructed in 1689 to help protect the port against attack from the sea and the aquarium which is home to some spectacular sea creatures.
